We're launching a short-film contest with a top prize of $10k
Inspired by the hyper-restrictive Dogme 95 film movement (but suspicious of its dogma), The A.V. Club is launching Parameter, a short-film competition with a top prize of $10,000 and a trip to Chicago to screen your movie and hang out with us. Each short film will share a theme ("an escape from everyday existence") as well as a whole bunch of rules/restrictions for y'all to have some fun with. (Example: A character must refer to another character as "homeslice.") Five of these rules will be mandatory, and then you must choose three from a list of secondary parameters. There will be three judging periods, and the competition runs well into Autumn. For complete rules and lots more information, go to the Parameter page. You're going to be hearing a lot about this thing, and we'll be showing you some of the best and/or more intriguing entries as the weeks roll by, so get ready to judge your peers. Oh wait, you already do that all the time. The whole shebang is made possible by Grolsch Premium Lager.
