The creative casting continues on One Shot, the forthcoming adaptation of Lee Child’s Jack Reacher books about a towering, menacing military policeman-turned-drifter who will be played by Tom Cruise and a whole lot of forced perspective. Variety now reports that none other than incredibly German maxim-generator Werner Herzog, who will take time out from directing documentaries and pondering man’s fatal stupidity to play a character called The Zec, an ex-POW who’s behind a conspiracy involving a sniper, a subject with which Herzog is intimately familiar. With the addition of Herzog in the main villain role, Cruise’s portrayal of a 6-foot-5-inch, 250-pound drifter is now the second craziest thing about One Shot—and it definitely makes us more excited to see it.
