Wes Anderson might be making another movie with puppets

Wes Anderson may be returning to stop-motion animation for his next foray into cinematic whimsy. During a Q&A at the Lisbon and Estoril Film Festival, the writer-director revealed that he is working on a story that is divided into several episodes, inspired by the 1954 Italian anthology film The Gold Of Naples. Also, it might have puppets. Anderson previously worked with stop-motion animation to bring Roald Dahl’s children’s novel Fantastic Mr. Fox to the big screen, a film widely praised for simplifying the convoluted rules of Whack-Bat and also for being really good.

Discussing his new film, Anderson said, “I’m trying to think of a good tease. And I think that the thing is well, it’s a thing where maybe there’s ‘many things happening at once.’ That could be my tease.” Or, following the box-office success of The Grand Budapest Hotel, Anderson probably could just slap his name on the film’s poster and call that the tease. Between this and Anderson’s daydreams of opening an amusement park, there should be plenty of entertainment in the coming years tailored to plucky kids and the sarcastic adults they will become.
