Wes Bentley joins the Pete’s Dragon remake
Wes Bentley has signed on to star in Disney’s remake of Pete’s Dragon, according to The Wrap. Bentley will join Boardwalk Empire’s Oakes Fegley as Pete, as well as Robert Redford, who will play a local man trying to convince the townsfolk that, guys, Pete has a dragon. Bryce Dallas Howard also is set to star in the film, which is being directed by David Lowery (Ain’t Them Bodies Saints).
At this point, Bentley’s role is unknown, though speculation can be divided into two categories: “Pete’s Dragon” and “Not Pete’s Dragon.” Considering the former category, one may speculate that the Hunger Games actor lacks the proper vocal resonance to speak exclusively in deep, nonsensical cow noises, as Charlie Callas did in the original movie. So, it’s more likely that Bentley has been cast as “Not Pete’s Dragon,” and will probably just sit handsomely by the sea, ignoring Redford’s warnings that there’s a dragon right behind him.
