Wes Bentley will return to American Horror Story next season
As announced by Ryan Murphy on Twitter, The Hunger Games and Interstellar’s Wes Bentley will be joining Matt Bomer, Cheyenne Jackson, and Lady Gaga in the next season of American Horror Story—which will apparently be called Hotel, even though there’s nothing inherently spooky about that. Bentley joined the AHS family during its recent Freak Show season, in which he played a ghostly revenge monster named Edward Mordrake. Also, he had a face on the back of his head that said evil things, and it was his job to kill a freak if they performed on Halloween, but Mordrake himself wasn’t exactly a villain. To determine which freak should die, he would allow them to spend a few minutes explaining their backstory for the viewers at home, and then sometimes they’d get to live on as a member of his ghostly revenge crew. Basically, it didn’t make a whole lot of sense.
All we know about Bentley’s role in Hotel is that it exists. We don’t know who he’s playing, we don’t know how long he’ll be sticking around, and we don’t know how many faces he’ll have. Considering that Freak Show introduced the idea that all of the AHS seasons exist within the same universe, it’s even possible that he’ll still be playing Edward Mordrake—but we doubt that’s the case. If we had to make a guess, though, we’d say Bentley will be playing the ghost of an alien cyborg who has come to Lady Gaga’s hotel so he can have sex with people and then murder them.
