Who says that Avatar hasn’t left much of a footprint on pop culture? Not the new round of character posters from the upcoming seventh season of Game Of Thrones, which show all of our major players in closeup in a pretty striking homage to the film that James Cameron will turn into a cultural phenomenon, even if it kills him.
Of course, they’re also appropriate for the similarly blue-faced race of White Walkers who pose an existential threat to the entirety of human civilization in Westeros and beyond. But it’s more fun to imagine that our heroes are simply getting dressed up for a bit of Na’vi mummery before they get back to the business of killing each other. Like the posters say, Game Of Thrones returns to HBO on July 16.
