WGN America drops the bomb on Manhattan
It looks like there’s at least one more rough goodbye to join the others that happened in the season two finale of WGN America’s Manhattan. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the channel has decided not to renew the show for a third season, preferring instead to to let it quietly be killed, perhaps like a certain person putting a gun to his temple and pulling the trigger. The series received good notices but rotten numbers, with ratings barely putting it in the top 1,000 shows of 2015. (Yes, the top thousand. Ouch.) With only a billowing mushroom cloud remaining where it used to reside on WGN’s schedule, the Manhattan project will now be dismantled, with its component cast and crew parts freed to be subsequently welded onto the bodies of other volatile programs, though with perhaps slightly more stable elements.
