WGN America renews Outsiders
According to Deadline, WGN America has renewed Outsiders for another season. The show is WGN’s third original drama series (after Salem and Manhattan), and it’s sort of like Game Of Thrones if it took place in modern Appalachia and one of the big families was a gang of mountain folk who rode around on ATVs and feuded with the city folk. Outsiders has been met with both solid reviews and solid ratings, with Deadline reporting that it averages 2.8 million total viewers in “live+7” (people who watch it live or up to seven days later) and it has increased the network’s primetime average by 42 percent. Considering that this renewal is coming only seven episodes into the first season, it seems that WGN is confident in Outsiders’ ability to hold onto numbers like that.
Production on the new season will begin in the summer, with it most likely premiering early next year.
