What’s more American than an Idris Elba mini-marathon?

Here’s what’s up in the world of TV for Monday, July 4. All times are Eastern.

Top picks

Idris Elba: No Limits (Discovery Channel, 7/8/9/10 p.m.): Idris Elba is already usually the only top pick anyone needs, but now it’s just perfect timing: Four episodes of Idris Elba: No Limits are literally all the top picks you need tonight. “Golden Globe-winning and Emmy Award-nominated actor and producer Idris Elba will push his body, mind and engineering know-how to the limit by racing on land, water and in the air for a new four-part series airing back-to-back on Discovery.” We’re talking rally driving, we’re talking street racing, we’re talking more than just cars, we swear. We’re talking “hip hop DJ Idris Elba.” God bless America.

Fourth Of July picks

Macy’s 4th Of July Fireworks Spectacular (NBC, 8 p.m.)

A Capitol Fourth (PBS, 8 p.m.)

Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular (CBS, 9 p.m.)

Premieres and finales

Houdini & Doyle (Fox, 9 p.m.): While everything else (except for wrestling and a third season-guaranteed UnREAL, of course) taps out tonight, Houdini & Doyle decides to reach for the brass ring by airing its first season finale on the Fourth Of July. In the episode, “The Pall Of LaPier,” “when all but two residents (a priest and a child) of a small village die simultaneously, and with no signs of violence, the trio must uncover whether or not this tragedy is divine revenge for the murderous founding of the town.” What a way to go out, Houdini & Doyle.

Regular coverage

WWE Monday Night RAW (USA, 8 p.m.)

UnREAL (Lifetime, 10 p.m.)

Streaming pick

Luther (Netflix): If four episodes of Idris Elba are not enough (and trust us, we know they’re not), then how about three seasons of Idris Elba? Yes, that only adds up to 14 episodes, but that’s still a good portion of Idris Elba. For America. Don’t give us that, “He’s British.” Just accept all of this Idris Elba into your heart on this day.
