What to expect when you’re expecting this exclusive Playing House clip: Drills and scrolls
Playing House is the new USA comedy from Jessica St. Clair and Lennon Parham, last seen on the small screen together in NBC’s Best Friends Forever. A.V. Club readers, however, might be more familiar with St. Clair and Parham as Comedy Bang! Bang! regulars Marissa “Womp it up!” Wompler and Miss Listler, one of the podcast’s top-flight comedy duos—and its premier inappropriately close student-teacher relationship. The friendly altercations defining that relationship spill over into this exclusive clip from Playing House, in which childhood friends Maggie (Parham) and Emma (St. Clair) reunite in their hometown to raise Maggie’s baby together. But first: Emma has to get on a plane, and Maggie has to put down the power tools. Playing House debuts April 29 at 10 p.m. Eastern, and co-stars Key & Peele’s Keegan-Michael Key, Malcolm In The Middle’s Jane Kaczmarek, and presumably a baby to be named later. (If that name is to be drawn from the stars’ previous work, may we recommend Gutterballs, Javaris Jamar Javarison-Lamar, or Dewey?)
