5 things you have to watch on TV this weekend
The Super Bowl is here, Justin Hartley stars in a new action-drama, and more
Welcome to the weekend edition of What’s On. Here are the big things happening on TV from Friday, February 9 to Sunday, February 11. All times are Eastern. [Note: The weekly edition of What’s On publishes on Sundays.]
1. Let the Super Bowl (and the Taylor Swift discourse) commence
CBS, Sunday, 6:30 p.m.: Well, it’s finally Super Bowl weekend, with the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers set battle it out Sunday in Las Vegas. Usher headlines the halftime show, while Post Malone, Reba McEntire, and Andra Day will perform during the pre-game show. In case you miraculously didn’t hear (good for you), Taylor Swift might be in attendance. The game airs on CBS and streams on Paramount+.
2. Justin Hartley is back on network TV with Tracker
CBS, Sunday, 10 p.m.: The new action drama Tracker premieres in the coveted post-Super Bowl time slot on CBS. Based on The Never Game by Jeffrey Deaver, Tracker marks Justin Hartley’s TV return after This Is Us. He plays Colter Shaw, a lone-wolf survivalist and tracking specialist who travels the country to help people and law enforcement solve mysteries. The cast includes Mary McDonnell, Robin Weigert, and Abby McEnany.
3. Get ready for a Camila Mendes rom-com
Prime Video, Friday, 12:01 a.m.: Upgraded sounds like a modern-day Cinderella story. Riverdale’s Camila Mendes portrays Ana, an ambitious intern who dreams of making it big in the art world. When she takes a work trip to London with her boss, Claire (Marisa Tomei), she bumps into the handsome Will (Archie Renaux) and lies about her career. That sets off a series of events that could threaten Ana’s love and professional lives. Saoirse-Monica Jackson, Lena Olin, and Anthony Head co-star.
4. Meet Me In Rome hits the Roku Channel
The Roku Channel, Friday, 8 p.m.: The rom-com reality series Meet Me In Rome—executive produced by Reese Witherspoon and Zoë Saldana—stars Christa Belle Allen, who takes an Italian trip with friends Dhruva Patel and Lauren Simmons to go on dates with handsome suitors around Rome. The twist? They each receive daily scripts to lead the guys on.
5. Lover, Stalker, Killer adds to Netflix’s true-crime lineup
Netflix, Friday, 3:01 a.m.: The documentary Lover, Stalker, Killer charts the tragic case of Dave Kroupa, who moved to Nebraska in 2012 after getting out of a long-term relationship. He formed a connection with two different women, but couldn’t have predicted how that love triangle would put him and his family at risk.
