6 things you have to watch on TV this weekend
Invincible finally returns, Gen V wraps its first season, Sandra Oh teams up with Awkwafina, and more
Welcome to the weekend edition of What’s On. Here are the big things happening on TV from Friday, Nov 3 to Sunday, Nov 5. All times are Eastern. [Note: The weekly What’s On publishes on Sundays.]
1. Invincible is finally back in action
Prime Video, Friday, 12:01 a.m.: Robert Kirkman’s animated superhero series Invincible returns after a two-and-a-half-year break with four new episodes that will air weekly. (The remaining four season-two eps will arrive next year.) The show catches up with teenager Mark Grayson, a.k.a. Invincible (Steven Yeun), as he deals with the betrayal of his father, starts college, tries to help his mother cope, and becomes Earth’s mightiest superhero. (Damn, that’s a lot to handle.) The voice cast includes Sandra Oh, J.K. Simmons, Gillian Jacobs, Zazie Beetz, Andrew Rannells, Jason Mantzoukas, and Malese Jow. Check out The A.V. Club’s review of the new eps.

2. Quiz Lady pairs Sandra Oh and Awkwafina
Hulu, Friday, 12:01 a.m.: It’s a good weekend to be a Sandra Oh fan, huh? Not only does she deliver an excellent voice performance in Invincible, but she also co-leads the new Hulu film, Quiz Lady. Directed by Jessica Yu, the movie centers on siblings Anne (Awkwafina) and Jenny Yum (Oh), who embark on an adventure to win money to pay off their mother’s debts and, oh yeah, rescue Anne’s kidnapped dog.
3. Gen V closes its first chapter
Prime Video, Friday, 12:01 a.m.: The Boys spin-off Gen V wraps up its gory, fun first season with the finale “The Guardians Of Godolkin.” The episode follows Cate (Maddie Phillips) and Sam’s (Asa Germann) destructive efforts to seek vengeance while their friends try to stop them. Be sure to keep an eye out for some exciting cameos that pave the way for The Boys season four. The A.V. Club’s recap of the episode publishes on Friday at noon.
