The 2009 Venice Film Festival line-up was announced today, and one of the more interesting-looking films screening out-of-competition is Alex Cox's Repo Chick, described by the director on his blog as decidedly not a sequel to his own Repo Man, but "a story of different characters in a different world." And yet, Cox notes, that hasn't stopped Universal Studios from sending him a "cease and desist" letter, which he's chosen to ignore. So Universal has apparently decided to pull a two-year-old Jude Law organ-stealing vehicle called Repossession Mambo off their shelves and release it next year as Repo Men. Of course this sudden Repo-mania could just be part of the lattice of coincidences that lays on top of everything. Like, suppose you're thinking about a plate of shrimp….
