White Zombie: White Zombie Presents Supersexy Swingin' Sounds

It's kind of silly to get indignant about a White Zombie remix album. Of course it's a lazy, cynical attempt to cash in on fleeting celebrity, but hey: If fans are dumb enough to buy the band's pseudo-scary, industro-metal studio albums, why not see if they're willing to buy one of the same albums (in this case, Astro-Creep 2000) again in remix form? It's a sociological experiment! What's odd about Supersexy Swingin' Sounds is that these songs will all sound familiar even to those who've only heard a small handful of them (like "More Human Than Human") in their original form. Hearing White Zombie remixed really brings out how little the band strays from a simple, commercially successful prototype. Like its more legitimate predecessors, Supersexy Swingin' Sounds sucks you in at times, if only for the way it flaunts its sheer brute stupidity. But that's no excuse to actually pay money for it.
