Whitney Cummings declares herself Your Girlfriend in new stand-up special

Having somehow survived those two or three years when the internet unleashed its collective hounds to try to drive her from existence, comedian and TV producer Whitney Cummings has a new stand-up special coming soon to HBO. Airing on Saturday, January 23, the special carries a bold, possibly family-destroying title: Whitney Cummings: I’m Your Girlfriend.

And what does your mandatory, premium cable-sanctioned girlfriend want to talk about? Obamacare, birth control, and the pointlessness of alpha males, if the trailer is anything to go by, with Cummings confidently delivering the kinds of jokes you pretty much expect Whitney Cummings to confidently deliver. The special—Cummings’ first—represents just part of her current involvement with HBO; she’s also expected to host a new semi-fictional docu-series based off Maureen Dowd’s Are Men Necessary?, which will hopefully air before the hate mobs that are constantly tailing her have a chance to fully form.
