As guitarist Nels Cline hinted over the summer, Wilco has officially launched dBpm Records—a “full-service label” that will handle all future Wilco recordings “and more,” which we’ll assume to mean rubdowns, wink wink. Longtime band manager Tony Margherita will run dBpm, with distribution to be handled by ANTI- Records, who put out last year’s Jeff Tweedy-produced You Are Not Alone. Presumably the first release will be Wilco’s next album, which the band is currently recording in Chicago and which Cline claimed would contain “a fair quotient of at least some form of rock,” even though that’s a pretty fair description of every Wilco album ever. You can possibly assess that quotient for yourself during one of the band’s upcoming handful of shows in May, which will take place after Tweedy does a solo jaunt in March. Tour dates are below; as previously reported, Wilco’s Solid Sound Festival returns to North Adams, MA on June 24 through June 26.
