Will Ferrell and Adam McKay turning Drunk History into possible Comedy Central series
Reinforcing the idea that Comedy Central gets most of its programming ideas by combing Funny Or Die, the network has ordered a pilot presentation for a potential series based on Drunk History, Derek Waters’ viral hit series in which comedians get plastered and then attempt to recount important historical events, much like your sophomore year of college. Unlike your sophomore year of college, these events are then acted out by guest stars that—in the web series, anyway—have included people like Ryan Gosling, Zooey Deschanel, Michael Cera, Crispin Glover, Don Cheadle, Jim Carrey, Jack Black, Will Ferrell, Danny McBride, and John C. Reilly. The TV version will follow a similar format, with the added element of visiting various towns to get the locals drunk and talk about their own histories, though it’s obviously not yet clear what celebrities will pop up for the reenactments. But considering the show will be executive-produced by Ferrell and Adam McKay, you can probably bet on Reilly and McBride, at least.
