Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis reunite for new Richard Linklater movie

Doing what they do best, Will Ferrell and Zack Galifianakis have signed on to play, respectively, a put-upon everyman and his eccentric cousin in the new Richard Linklater film, Larry’s Kidney. (Ferrell and Galifianakis were last seen on screen together in The Campaign.) Larry’s Kidney will be based on a memoir of the same name by Daniel Asa Rose that also bears the very descriptive subtitle, Being The True Story Of How I Found Myself In China With My Black Sheep Cousin And His Mail-Order Bride, Skirting The Law To Get Him A Transplant—And Save His Life, which says pretty much everything there is to say about the plot.

In marketing terms, Larry’s Kidney has everything: top-tier talent, a name director, a provocative but ultimately slapstick premise, and, most importantly for the modern global box office, a Chinese setting. The only thing that remains unclear is when, exactly, production will begin. Producer Scott Aversano’s bio says that shooting will begin in “the spring,” but no dates have been set so far.
