Will Ferrell picks up King Dork for movie
Will Ferrell and Adam McKay (director and co-writer of Anchorman and Talladega Nights) have grabbed the rights to Frank Portman's novel King Dork. Whether Ferrell will actually be in the movie isn't clear. It's one of the first ventures for the pair's new production company, Gary Sanchez Productions, which is teaming with Warner Bros. to make independent films. Don't worry, it doesn't mean they're sacrificing their kinda-infantile sense of humor—the company's first release will be The Foot Fist Way, a comedy about martial-arts instructors.
And King Dork's plot should provide plenty of fodder for the pair's weird and hyper comedic imagination. Among its more outlandish plot points are: A series of imaginary bands (complete with fake album covers and song titles); a copy of The Catcher In The Rye filled with mysterious correspondences between the protagonist's deceased father and an unkown figure named "Tit"; and a high-school administrator who runs a porn ring.
