Will Ferrell to play a Shakespearean actor, probably wear a cape

Having made his irreverent mark on the worlds of haute couture and jazz, Will Ferrell is attacking another citadel of snobby high culture. Variety reports that Ferrell has signed on to star in a Shakespearean comedy, by which we do not mean that Ferrell will be doing Twelfth Night or whatever—he’s more of an improvisation guy—but that he will be playing a Shakespearean actor, presumably one with a funny accent, in a comedy. The untitled film was developed as a star vehicle for Ferrell, and “centers around the intense, competitive world inside a Shakespearean theater company.” Tights and capes are expected.
