Answering, sort of, our own Nathan Rabin’s wishes to see Will Forte get another shot at being a leading man, Fox has cast the Saturday Night Live refugee as the lead in its new pilot Rebounding, produced by Modern Family’s Steve Levitan. As previously reported in this thing, Rebounding will star Forte as Danny, a guy who deals with the grief over his fiancée’s death with the aid of “the idiots on his pickup basketball team,” who help him to see that life will just go on and on in its same trivial, pointless, surrounded-by-idiots manner. The title, you will note, is an example of clever wordplay, as the main character is bouncing back from a regrettably missed shot much as one would do in basketball, and is similarly looking to shove himself into the next available hole.
