Will Smith’s 2005 romantic comedy Hitch is being adapted into an “action-packed one-hour” TV series by The Proposal writer Peter Chiarelli. It’s actually the second attempt to transform the film—in which Will Smith’s “date doctor” helps Kevin James learn how to not be so Kevin James, but then [spoiler alert] realizes himself that it is far better for a Kevin James to just be Kevin James, because the first step to a Kevin James finding love is Kevin James learning to love himself—the first being a half-hour comedy pilot that ended up going nowhere three years ago. Will Smith won’t be in this one either—but surely Hitch's success had less to do with him and more to do with lines like, "Any man has a chance to sweep any woman off her feet. He just needs the right broom"?
