William Friedkin will guest star on The Simpsons
Despite its annual tradition of spoofing horror and sci-fi movies, The Simpsons has remained surprisingly light on The Exorcist references. The animated series hasn’t gone beyond the walking on ceilings and extreme head-turning. But it looks like Fox is going to remedy the situation with a guest appearance from William Friedkin, who directed the original film, as well as a full Exorcist parody in this year’s “Treehouse Of Horror” episode. Oddly enough, Friedkin won’t be a part of “The Exor-sis”—that honor’s gone to Ben Daniels, who stars in Fox’s adaptation of the film franchise. Instead, according to Screenrant, Friedkin will voice Dr. Kenneth Humphries in the “MMM… Homer” segment, which will see the dim-witted patriarch cannibalize himself when he runs out of food while the rest of the family’s out of town. Never mind that it’s been done before (and in this format):
“Treehouse of Horror XXVIII” airs October 22 at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
