Willie Nelson covered a Coldplay song for Chipotle and pigs

Providing a much-needed balance of normalcy to a day that’s seen Jack White and Insane Clown Posse getting together on a Mozart tune, Willie Nelson has recorded a cover of Coldplay’s “The Scientist” as an ad for Chipotle, lending his tremulous twang to the keening Britpop song in order to promote organic and sustainable farming. Nelson’s version of the tune provides the soundtrack to the below animated short that’s currently being screened in movie theaters, the stop-motion story of a factory farmer who rejects his industrialized life of pills and pigs in cages and goes “back to the start” (like the song, you see) by allowing them to roam free before they’re shipped off to become Chipotle carnitas. You can buy the track at iTunes, with 60 cents from every purchase benefiting the Chipotle Cultivate Foundation. And, quite possibly, helping to offset all the free burritos that Nelson gets to eat from now on.
