Win this exclusive Optimus Prime Crosley Turntable and the new Transformers Roll Out vinyl
Transformers: They’re certainly more than meets the eye. Alien robots with the ability to transform into vehicles? That’s got to be a metaphor for something—the fluidity of identity, maybe? Or maybe it’s meta-commentary on the dangers of consumerism? Whatever it is, the symbolism of the toy line/TV series/film franchise has inspired a number of bands to craft rocking odes to the massively popular characters, which were recently compiled in the album Transformers Roll Out. Released last month by Hasbro and Sony Music, the LP celebrates the metalhead heroes with original songs from bands like Bush, Mount Holly, Crash Kings, and Mew.
To coincide with the release, artists Jim Harper, Don Fedorko, and John Beck have created a one-of-a-kind Crosley C200 Turntable, featuring the visage of the Transformers’ fearless leader, Optimus Prime, etched into the plexiglass lid. Take a look:
That’s one badass turntable.
