Witches Of East End’s Jenna Dewan-Tatum to play Lucy Lane on Supergirl
CBS’ Supergirl is getting its own Lane: according to The Hollywood Reporter, Jenna Dewan-Tatum has been cast as Lucy Lane. The American Horror Story actress will have a recurring role as Lois’ younger sister, whose backstory could create all kinds of complications for Kara/Supergirl (Melissa Benoist).
Lucy is described as being just as beautiful and plucky as her big sister and “strong, smart and successful in her own right,” lest you think she’s just trading on the family name. We also know that the character arrives in National City to “right a wrong”—or, if she also happens to be a reporter, to possibly “write a wrong” for CatCo. And, as James Olsen’s (Mehcad Brooks) ex-girlfriend, she might even act as a romantic rival to Kara.
The younger Lane has had varying comic-book storylines: she was sometimes a flight attendant and sometimes an air traffic controller who occasionally dated Jimmy Olsen. She was also briefly Superwoman with the help of a suit and her dad, General Sam Lane. Lucy’s made trouble for TV’s other Kryptonian in the past, like showing questionable taste in men in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures Of Superman or being a manipulative pain in the ass on Smallville.
