Fueled by dudes holding nightly candlelight remembrances for the late Paul Walker, Wiz Khalifa’s video for “See You Again” has become the most-viewed clip on YouTube, clocking in nearly 2.9 billion clicks earlier this morning. This number surpasses that of YouTube’s previous record-holder, Psy’s “Gangnam Style,” which no one will even remember now. It was about anime or something.
“See You Again,” which played during the end credits for 2015’s Furious 7, features Khalifa rolling up a fat remembrance for Walker with a particularly potent strain of sentiment, one that will get you high off your ass with remorse. He’s accompanied by singer Charlie Puth, who wears an appropriately melancholy pompadour. Their performance is accompanied by clips from the film that, if you add them all up, have now been collectively viewed more than any of the Fast & Furious movies combined. And these are interspersed with shots of Khalifa and Puth not standing anywhere near each other, as well as some cars who have been crying.
“I’m super excited and grateful to everyone who supported the song and video on YouTube, and happy to inspire and impact so many lives,” Khalifa said in a statement about this meaningful achievement that will endure forever, or at least until everyone here combines forces to make this clip of a pig dancing to “Work” the most-viewed.
