Wolf Of Wall Street writer to do some lines for the Scarface remake
Prep the powder: Terence Winter—a man who knows a thing or two about scenes involving copious drug consumption—is going to tackle the script for Universal’s Scarface remake, according to Variety. The writing duties for the project have changed hands quite a bit: David Ayer took a stab, as did Straight Outta Compton’s Jonathan Herman. But now, with Antoine Fuqua on board to direct, it will get what Variety calls a “polish” from the capable hands of Winter, known for his work on The Wolf Of Wall Street, Boardwalk Empire, and of late Vinyl. What do all these properties have in common? Cocaine.
Just as the 1983 version of Scarface altered the details of the story in the 1932 original, focusing on a man from Cuba in Miami rather than one from Italy in Chicago, the new one will also change up the circumstances of the tale. Variety reports it will follow a Mexican immigrant and take place in Los Angeles. Fuqua is hot off a remake of another remake: The Magnificent Seven. Meanwhile, Winter is also writing Jared Leto’s Warhol biopic, a movie we still can’t believe is going to exist.
