Woman on Contra cover settles suit with Vampire Weekend
The woman who unwittingly became the cover girl for Vampire Weekend’s 2010 album Contra has settled her lawsuit filed against the band for an undisclosed amount. Ann Kirsten Kennis sued Vampire Weekend (along with its label, XL Recordings, and photographer Tod Brody) for $2 million, claiming she never gave permission to have her likeness used for the album’s cover. The case has now been dismissed by an L.A. federal court, but it’s not the end of Contra-related lawsuits. Vampire Weekend and XL have since filed suit against Brody, claiming he’s solely liable because he forged a model-release signature for Kennis. [Via Pitchfork]
