Wonder Woman’s Chris Pine and Patty Jenkins reunite for TNT crime drama

With a little bit of time to kill before production formally begins on Wonder Woman 2, Deadline reports that the film’s director, Patty Jenkins, and co-star Chris Pine are reuniting for a six-part TNT drama miniseries called One Day She’ll Darken. The series is inspired by the memoir by Fauna Hodel, a white woman raised by a black adoptive mother whose pursuit of her birth mother led to shocking revelations about her grandfather, Dr. George Hodel, a Hollywood gynecologist with ties to the infamous Black Dahlia murder. Pine will star as Jay Singletary, a washed-up reporter whose career was ruined by his coverage of Hodel’s misdeeds.

Before Wonder Woman, of course, Jenkins directed Charlize Theron in her Oscar-winning role as serial killer Aileen Wuornos in Monster (2003), so a period true-crime series plays to her strengths. Jenkins has agreed to direct the pilot, with an option to sign on for more. Her husband, author Sam Sheridan, adapted the teleplay from Hodel’s book. No date has been set for One Day She’ll Darken’s premiere, but it’s set to shoot this fall.
