Wonder Woman’s invisible jet won’t appear in the movie
Wonder Woman will celebrate her 75th anniversary in December of this year, just six months before the premiere of Patty Jenkins’ film about the superhero. Ahead of the celebration, People interviewed DC Entertainment president Diane Nelson, who promoted the recent launch of Wonder Woman: Rebirth comic, whose story sounds like it will hit the same beats as the upcoming film: After suffering a tragic loss, Wonder Woman has to make her way back to humanity as the Earth’s “ultimate protector and champion.” Nelson told People there’s “no better time to than now” for a new Wonder Woman comic and movie.
“The overall conversation that’s happening in our culture right now – about having stronger gender equality representation in media and in government and in education and all of it just makes it the perfect time to see a character like Wonder Woman out there.”
Of course, such a momentous occasion requires lots of merchandising tie-ins, like this 75th anniversary Wonder Woman Barbie Doll, or this new action figure, complete with invisible jet.
Wonder Woman had lots of great accoutrements/battle gear—a truth-compelling lasso, bullet-proof bracelets, a shield—but the invisible jet was probably the coolest. It flew at supersonic speeds and was virtually undetectable. Unfortunately, that toy set is the only place it will pop up during the 75th anniversary. Nelson casually mentioned that the invisible jet won’t be seen in the film: “Not in this iteration.” Well, at least some high-end designer is making this see-through raincoat, so affluent fans can pretend they’re riding around in the invisible jet.
