Woody Allen’s Amazon show has a premiere date, title

During its development, Amazon Studios maintained an air of mystery around its upcoming collaboration with Woody Allen. That’s to be expected from any Woody Allen project, but it’s probably more expected from a Woody Allen project co-starring Miley Cyrus in 2016. Some of that mystery dissipated this morning at the Television Critics Association press tour, when Amazon announced a title and a premiere date for the series.

Titled Crisis In Six Scenes, the series debuts on Amazon Prime Video in September, which will be part of a “month of comedy” for the streaming service that includes the first seasons of Tig Notaro’s One Mississippi and the British import Fleabag (September 9 and 16th, respectively) and season three of Transparent (September 23). Described in an Amazon release as taking place “in the 1960s during turbulent times in the United States when a middle class suburban family is visited by a guest who turns their household completely upside down,” Crisis In Six Scenes comes to Amazon on September 30. Woody Allen hopes you’re not disappointed in it, though that’s really the least of the reasons you’d have to be disappointed in Woody Allen these days.
