Woody Harrelson might play Han Solo’s mentor in Star Wars spin-off
Nobody really knows how Han Solo became the handsome rogue who only shoots after other people have shot in the Star Wars movies, especially now that Disney has jettisoned the old Expanded Universe. But Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s upcoming spin-off film is presumably going to shed some light on the guy. According to Variety, that will involve an appearance from a mentor character who might be played by Woody Harrelson. Talks between Harrelson and Disney are still in their early stages, and we don’t know anything about the character beyond the mentor thing, but he’s reportedly the “top choice” for the role. That could be because Harrelson recently played a mentor character in the Hunger Games movies, but maybe the producers just see something Han Solo-esque in Harrelson’s totally cool, laid-back persona.
The yet-untitled film will star Alden Ehrenreich as Solo, with Donald Glover and Emilia Clarke co-starring as well. It’s set to be released at some point next year.
