World Of Warcraft is planning some sort of in-game Robin Williams memorial

Robin Williams will be memorialized in the popular roleplaying game World Of Warcraft, after an online petition at Change.org garnered more than 10,000 signatures. The petition asked World Of Warcraft creator Activision-Blizzard to “create an NPC within World Of Warcraft to memorialize the late Robin Williams, an avid World Of Warcraft player, and one of the funniest men alive.” (An NPC, for those not familiar with gaming acronyms, is a non-player character.)

The official World Of Warcraft Twitter account seemed to confirm the tribute yesterday with the following tweet:

Details about how and when a Williams NPC will be incorporated into the game are still unknown, but the petition’s description said that many hoped to see the character to perform some of Williams’ best jokes at the World’s End Tavern, “so that he may continue making us smile long after his passing.” The World’s End Tavern is currently home to a standup comic named Perry Gatner, who tells some truly terrible jokes. Williams would certainly have no problem following him.

The petition describes how Williams often joked that he was addicted to World Of Warcraft and enjoyed playing Warcraft III. An avid gamer, in a Reddit AMA last year, Williams wrote that he was waiting for the next Call Of Duty to come out and that The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time was the last game he played all the way through. He also starred in several Nintendo Zelda commercials with his daughter, whom he named after the game.
