WorldstarHipHop is getting its own movie, somehow

Worldstar HipHop—the site that compiles the finest music videos, late-night McDonald’s fights, and cats trying to get some tidday action that have come to define the hip-hop genre—has been hit with its own surprise movie deal, while a crowd of slackjawed onlookers shouted, “Worldstar!” Deadline reports that Paramount has picked up a pitch based on the site for its “micro-budget arm,” Insurge, guaranteeing that the Worldstar movie will have the same cheap, amateurish aesthetics visitors have come to expect, albeit hopefully with a director who knows to turn his damn phone sideways. The plot, as it were, hails from How To Make It In America creator Ian Edelman and is being kept under wraps, though it’s said to be tonally similar to Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. So expect a new generation of hip-hop teens embarking on a lighthearted romp through the city, stopping off at various points of interest to get their asses beat.
