The industry's most important entertainment awards ceremony ["Because it comes from the people"—Valerie Cherish] has been forced to reinvent itself in the wake of the writers' strike, scrapping a planned live broadcast from the Shrine Auditorium next month and substituting pre-taped acceptance speeches. New Jenny Craig spokesperson Queen Latifah, meanwhile, will get all dressed up just so she can make inane segues from a soundstage.
