Writers' strike forces revamp of People's Choice Awards
The industry's most important entertainment awards ceremony ["Because it comes from the people"—Valerie Cherish] has been forced to reinvent itself in the wake of the writers' strike, scrapping a planned live broadcast from the Shrine Auditorium next month and substituting pre-taped acceptance speeches. New Jenny Craig spokesperson Queen Latifah, meanwhile, will get all dressed up just so she can make inane segues from a soundstage. As part of its redesign, the show is soliciting questions from fans which honorees will be asked to answer in their remarks, so if you want to ask Favorite Male TV Star nominee Kiefer Sutherland what he did during his recent prison stay, or try to get Favorite Female Movie Star nominee Jodie Foster to confirm rumors that she's, uh, a big Scissor Sisters fan, here's your chance.
