Wyatt Cenac developing his own show for Pivot

As reported by Capital New York, former Daily Show correspondent Wyatt Cenac will soon be getting his own show. And, just like the shows hosted by fellow Daily Show vets Stephen Colbert, John Oliver, Larry Wilmore, and now Samantha Bee, it’s going to be a topical comedy program where Cenac makes jokes about current events. In other words, it’s going to be like The Daily Show.

Cenac is developing his yet-untitled show for Pivot, the hip channel that you probably don’t get—both in the sense that your cable company might not offer it, and because it’s so hip. We don’t know anything else about Cenac’s project, but Pivot says that it will “provide his unique take on topical issues in an unconventional format.” So maybe it won’t be about Cenac sitting behind a desk and groaning about Fox News, or maybe the “unconventional format” line is a reference to the fact that it’ll be on Pivot. Either way, this news confirms that Cenac is also not taking over for Jon Stewart, which means Comedy Central is getting closer and closer to either cloning Stewart or simply replacing him with the DJ 3000 from The Simpsons.
