X-Men: Apocalypse will recognize that people like Jennifer Lawrence

Considering Jennifer Lawrence is pretty much the biggest star in Hollywood right now, it’s a no-brainer for the filmmakers to emphasize Mystique in the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse. Co-writer and co-producer Simon Kinberg tells Collider that Mystique and Beast (Nicholas Hoult) will be one of the main focuses of the film. “The relationship between Beast and Mystique is a really interesting one that we didn’t have a lot of time to explore in Days Of Future Past,” Kinberg said. “So we’ll have an opportunity to do more of that in Apocalypse.”

The younger Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) and Erik Lensherr (Michael Fassbender) will also be revolving around Mystique’s orbit. “Part of what’s really interesting about Mystique’s character is that she is, in some ways, the child of both Erik and Charles,” Kinberg said. “She grew up with Charles and then she sort of became a woman with Erik, so her being the cross-pollination, if you will, of those two philosophies and those two men is something we can explore in the movie, too.” Hopefully Mystique will also find some time to kick some ass, in between examining her very important relationships with these mutant men.
