Yay! Free online hip hop mixtapes are fun/free!

Hey you guys,

If you're like me, you enjoy listening to good music and dislike spending money. So I find the concept of a free online mixtapes pretty damned irresistible. Since I'm all about saving readers money and turning them onto some rocking tunes, I figured I'd share some of my favorite free online mixtapes.

A good place to start is the website of DJ Mick Boogie. It can be found here: http://mickboogie.com . You can't really go wrong with any of the free mixtape downloads on the site. I am particularly partial to the Little Brother/Mick Boogie mixtape And Justus For All, which finds North Carolina's finest mixing it up with a gaudy assemblage of alt-rap superstars like Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Rhymefest and Skillz along with the whole Justus League extended family. Here's a link: And Justus For All Mixtape

I also highly recommend the Busta Rhymes/J-Dilla mixtape Dillagence, an entire album of Busta Rhymes rapping over J-Dilla beats. Ever wonder what Busta Rhymes would sound like over "Lightworks"? Look no further. Dillagence represents yet another triumph in J-Dilla's ongoing posthumous professional renaissance. Here's a link: Dillagence

If you enjoy the humble young Chicago producer/rapper Kanye West then I highly recommend the "Graduate" mixtape (peep the science here: Graduate Mixtape). It inexplicably includes the infamous Saturday Night Live freestyle (yes, it sucks just as bad as you remember) as well as many tracks that are just as ballsy but nowhere near as terrible.

As a longtime Rhymefest fan I am digging the rapper's high-profile Michael Jackson tribute Man In The Mirror, a collaboration with hotshot super-producer Mark Ronson Man In The Mirror Mixtape. Rhymefest's loving homage to perhaps the creepiest man in music accomplishes the formidable feat of bringing a certain dewy innocence back to Jackson's increasingly disturbing legacy.

Free online mix-tapes are also a great way to get exposed to new and upcoming artists who may never actually release a proper studio album since they're cursed and blessed to be signed to Dr. Dre's Aftermath label. I subsequently have been enjoying Dre's super-lyrical new signee Bishop Lamont, whose provocative rhymes, dark humor and biting social commentary can be found on mixtapes like the following: N*gga Noize) and ( Popemobile )

So there you have it: some good-ass hip hop that won't cost you a penny. Please do check this shit out and let me know what you think. If you're not feeling any of these artists or mix-tapes I've linked to I promise a full money-back guarantee. What kick-ass free online mix-tapes have I missed? Please do give us the 411 so we can all get in on this red-hot free action.
