TMZ.com has some ugly footage of Seinfeld star Michael Richards angrily spitting racial epithets at some African American hecklers during a comedy club appearance this weekend. The tape doesn't show what caused Richards to explode, kicking in just as Richards makes the charming observation, "Fifty years ago we'd have you upside down with a fucking fork up your ass." Unfortunately, he then proceeds to go there, using "nigger" repeatedly along with multiple "motherfuckers." At first the audience laughs uncomfortably, and Richards seems to pass it off as "Hey, I'm just using provocative language to intentionally rankle you." But soon the audience rises up against him, and Richards walks off stage. You can see the footage for yourself at TMZ.com. Say what you will about Mel Gibson, but at least he was smart enough to keep his racist tirade off camera.
