Yep, Christopher McQuarrie is directing the next Mission: Impossible
Whenever Christopher McQuarrie gets around to buying a stretch yacht, he should probably name it something like Thank You, Tom Cruise. Especially now that the writer-director is, as previously predicted, finalizing his deal to helm the fifth film in the Mission: Impossible franchise/perpetual moneymaking machine. Coincidentally, the sequel also marks McQuarrie’s fifth film with Cruise, after doing varying degrees of script work on Valkyrie, M:I-4, the upcoming, just-renamed Edge Of Tomorrow, and the possibly stillborn Top Gun 2. Oddly enough, McQuarrie will not be penning the newest installment in the adventures of Ethan Hunt, as many understandably suspected. Instead, he will direct from a screenplay by Iron Man 3 writer Drew Pearce.
