Yep, Vince Vaughn will also star in True Detective
As previously rumored, Vince Vaughn has just been confirmed as one of the leads in True Detective’s second season. According to Variety, Vaughn will star as Frank Semyon, “a man in danger of losing his criminal empire when his move into legitimate enterprise is upended by the murder of a business partner.”He joins the also recently confirmed Colin Farrell as the “compromised detective” Ray Velcoro, “whose allegiances are torn between his masters in a corrupt police department and the mobster who owns him.”
Most recently known for bland studio fare like Delivery Man and The Internship, Vaughn is presumed to be launching a career renaissance—a Vaughnissance, if you will—by appearing in HBO’s critically lauded drama. With any luck, the results will be more Clay Pigeons than Couples Retreat. Still no word on casting for the female lead that creator Nic Pizzolatto promised fans, but that’s not surprising considering pretty much every actress in Hollywood is still up for the role.
