Yes, Cate Blanchett will be back for The Hobbit

As proof that Middle Earth is not the sole domain of white people, but rather blindingly white, possibly fluoride-blooded people, Peter Jackson has secured Cate Blanchett to return as elf queen Galadriel in The Hobbit. Also on board: Ken Stott (Charlie Wilson’s War) as the dwarf Lord Balin, Sylvester McCoy (Doctor Who) as the wizard Radagast the Brown, Swedish actor Mikael Persbrandt as the shape-shifter Beorn, British actor Ryan Gage as Drogo Baggins, Jed Brophy (who played various orcs in the Lord Of The Rings trilogy) as the dwarf Nori, and William Kircher as the dwarf Bifur. There’s still no official confirmation of a return from Ian McKellen, who hinted earlier this month that he might be pushing to renegotiate for a bigger payday. Considering the last time someone tried to play hardball with Jackson, he ended up getting an entire country to rewrite its labor laws, McKellen might want to just go ahead and say yes.
