Yes, Damian Lewis is still on Homeland

In case the pointedly open-ended finale to Homeland’s second season was not already a tip-off, the fate of Damian Lewis’ character on the show remains in limbo—an ambiguity reinforced by the fact that Lewis still has a seven-year contract with the show, and the fact that executive producer Howard Gordon has said, point blank, that Lewis will be back. “He’s alive so of course he’ll be back,” Gordon said of Lewis’ character at the Golden Globes, during a night he spent in a spoilin’ mood. “One of the great challenges of next [season] is how he’ll be back. But there’s no doubt that he will be back,” Gordon added, reassuring those who worried that maybe the series would consider his plotline fully exploited and use this opportunity to tackle other stories maybe not involving Brody and his family, thus robbing fans of finding out what Dana is sulking about this week, or whether Boy Dana is still playing video games. Unless, of course, the first episode finds the Brodys moving to remote Africa, freeing Damian Lewis to be found in more unexpected locations, like holing up in Mandy Patinkin’s beard.
