Yes, Sony still plans to make those Girl With The Dragon Tattoo sequels
Although fewer audiences than expected were excited about having a rape-y alternative to wholesome holiday fare, Sony remains committed to completing both planned follow-ups to The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, despite the film’s somewhat-disappointing box-office grosses so far. According to Deadline, screenwriter Steve Zaillian has already finished The Girl Who Played With Fire and, just like your mom’s book club, is already moving on to The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet’s Nest, with filming on the first sequel expected to begin by the end of this year or the early month of 2013. And while David Fincher is not yet locked in to return, one thing that is for certain is that the studio probably won’t try releasing the films around Christmas again (“It was too cocky of us,” one studio executive said), leaving the mantle of “feel-bad” movie of the season to fall to whatever Garry Marshall puts together next.
