Season eight of Dexter will, for real, be the show’s last season. That news comes courtesy of Showtime, who announced the news via the show’s Facebook page this afternoon. The show premiered in 2006, has 14 million Facebook fans, won a Peabody Award, has been nominated for 25 Emmys and 10 Golden Globes, and was named one of AFI’s top 10 TV series twice. The final season of the show will kick of Sunday, June 30 at 9pm EST.
Showtime’s Chairman, Matthew C. Blank, says the show’s “cultural impact will be felt for years to come,” not unlike the stab wounds that the titular character inflicts on his victims.
