Yoko Ono unveils new Lennon tower
Continuing her efforts to convert the concepts of peace and love into baffling art projects, Yoko Ono will unveil the Imagine Peace Tower in the Icelandic capital Reykjavik on October 9, what would have been John Lennon's 67th birthday. According to Ono's official statement, "In 1967, Lennon predicted that he conceptual light tower would one day become a reality." (Yes, finally we have the technology to turn bullshit into light!) The tower will be surrounded by a Wishing Well Wall on which the words "Imagine Peace" have been inscribed on it in 24 languages, and according to Idolator (who picked it up from an Ono fan site), the tower itself will be an illuminated column 20 to 30 meters high with the lyrics to "Imagine" inscribed on them, and will be filled with "messages of wishes and hopes from more than 900,000 people that have been collected so far." Furthermore, "a special mailbox for the monument will be set up in the city to continue accepting more letters to go into the monument." So if you have a message of peace and love you'd like to share with the world, we've got a great (new) place you can cram it.
