You bet your sweet ass Painkiller Jane is going to be R-rated

The Soska Sisters, Canada’s most charmingly demented identical twin sister directing duo, have been tapped to direct an upcoming live-action film based on the comic series Painkiller Jane. The eponymous heroine possesses regenerative powers but still feels the pain of her injuries, character traits that dovetail nicely with the Soskas’ pet themes of body horror and tough broads. They certainly sound confident in a new interview with Crave Online, an interview that dovetails nicely with the Soskas’ other obsession: talking shit.

“I’m so excited about it because there are so few female superheroes that are leading movies…And then you get this bisexual, badass, dirty language, doesn’t-give-a-fuck cop as the first female-starring [superhero] movie? [I] don’t really include Elektra and Catwoman. I don’t think those are real movies,” says Sylvia, who once punched her sister in the face in a boxing ring wearing a Mortal Kombat costume.

“[W]hen you come to a character like Jane, she drinks, she fights, she fucks, she talks like you and I talk, and that’s an important part of her character. That’s why we’d be really disappointed if that ended up being a PG or a PG-13 film,” Jen, who punched her sister right back, says.

But there’s no need to worry about that, because as Sylvia assures us, “Jen and I are not going to let that happen…There are some scenes in this movie, there’s no way they’re not going to slap us with an R. Once you see it, it’s going to just be batshit crazy.”
