You can't spell New Year’s Eve without Steven (Universe, that is)

You can't spell New Year’s Eve without Steven (Universe, that is)

Here’s what’s happening in the world of television for Monday, December 31. All times are Eastern.

Top pick

Steven Universe (Cartoon Network, 7:30p.m.): The episode note for tonight’s Steven Universe simply says, “Steven throws a party to bring his family together.” That sounds like a classic Steven set-up (“Together Breakfast,” anyone?). Yet we’re concerned for Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl (and Steven!), becayse both the title of this episode and the stakes of the “Diamond Days” event lend this one a somewhat ominous tone. That title: “Together Alone.”

Be it sad, sweet, or covered in popcorn and whipped cream with a strawberry on top, Eric Thurm will be on hand to recap it all.

Regular coverage

Wild card

Taylor Swift reputation Stadium Tour (Netflix, 3:01 a.m.): Funnily enough, “Together Alone” could also apply to many a shitty New Year’s Eve party. If you see one of those in your future, you could always stay home and attend the party Taylor Swift is currently throwing inside your television. Taylor Swift being Taylor Swift, odds are you already know whether or not such a party is your speed, so if it is, have at it. If not, uh, Ryan Seacrest is on?
