You’re The Worst plays the hits as Gretchen’s anxiety spikes
Here’s what’s happening in the world of television for Wednesday, March 13. All times are Eastern.
Top pick
You’re The Worst (FXX, 10 p.m.): In news that won’t shock anyone who’s been paying even a little attention to this FXX series over the course of its five seasons, You’re The Worst has been damn good lately. It’s a comfort that comes with a little twinge of regret, when an excellent series goes out on top—and especially so when it decides to play the hits, thematically speaking. You’re The Worst does a better job addressing and exploring mental illness than almost anything else on television—no small feat, considering how many shows have aced that particular topic of late.
This week’s episode centers on a huge event Gretchen’s planning—and as it so often does, her anxiety decides to up and crash the party. Vikram Murthi will recap the impact of the “nah,” as trotted out in the trailer above.
Regular coverage
Riverdale (The CW, 8 p.m.)
Modern Family (ABC, 9 p.m.)
Deadly Class (Syfy, 10 p.m.)
Documentary Now! (IFC, 11 p.m.)
Wild card
Drop The Mic (TNT, 10 p.m.): Tonight’s DTM lineup includes not one but two pairings that are actually of note. First, the reliably excellent Jason Mitchell—who, if you’ll recall, played Eazy-E in Straight Outta Compton—faces Adina Porter (American Horror Story). We’re interested. Then, Joey “Whoa!” Lawrence squares off against David Faustino (Married… With Children), a.k.a. D’ Lil. That’s just… a lot. That’s a lot.
